Aqueduct Road is located on the outskirts of the West Midlands town of Shirley. A large house had previously been located on the site. Urban Designs were commissioned to design a scheme for the client after previous proposals had been refused planning permission on the grounds of design. Our vision for the site was to have the appearance of a large country house, whilst within the envelope of the building are apartments and continuing the theme we added additional apartments in the form of a coach house. The success of the scheme was achieved by retaining the visual mass of the building, utilising space within deep roof pitches and introducing three storey elements to interject long elevations.
