Developer – New Build/Conversions – Bullbridge, Derbyshire
The former site of Stevenson’s Dye Works, located on the edge of the Peak District, presented numerous challenges.
Existing constraints such as steep topography, river frontage, flood plain, railway line, and the route of the former Cromford Canal, along with buildings of local heritage interest and a large-diameter water main crossing the site, made it difficult to develop a commercially viable scheme acceptable to the Local Planning Authority.
Urban Designs undertook a comprehensive design package for this development, including obtaining Reserved Matters planning approval, designing house types, securing technical approvals, preparing construction drawings, and providing ongoing technical support during the construction phase. Planning permission was granted in 2019, and work commenced on-site in the summer of 2020, with many homes already sold, the entire scheme is due for completion in Spring 2025.
