Urban Designs were appointed to deliver the extensive transformation of a countryside property in rural Staffordshire, working closely with the client to shape a bespoke home that is both visually striking and environmentally conscious.

The project involved a comprehensive reimagining of the existing property, with a focus on sustainability, cost-efficiency, and sensitivity to the surrounding landscape.

Our team developed two distinct design concepts early in the process, using traditional materials to maintain character while streamlining build times and budgets. Planning permission was successfully obtained for a 1.5-storey side extension, five new dormers, and roof alterations. A carefully considered planning statement demonstrated a reduced visual and physical impact compared to earlier proposals, supporting a more sustainable design by retaining much of the original external fabric.

Key environmental features included the integration of an air source heat pump, providing an efficient, low-carbon heating solution. We led the preparation of a full Technical Drawing Pack, secured Building Control approval, and managed all planning and regulatory submissions. Our coordination with engineers, consultants, and surveyors ensured all technical feedback was integrated into a high-performance final specification.

Now nearing completion, the property stands as a refined example of rural architecture—combining traditional design cues with modern sustainability standards.
