Developer – New Build Houses + Apartments – Brampton, Derbyshire

The site was the location of a former bus garage on Old Road, Brampton, on the outskirts of Chesterfield.

With the brief to maximise the floor area, a mix of apartments and townhouses was chosen. To ensure the design blended with the neighbouring houses, the scheme took the form of a row of houses, incorporating both apartments and townhouses.

Ground-floor apartments were designed with separate accesses, allowing the positioning of doors on the elevations to create a rhythm typical of rows of houses. A focal point three-storey apartment building was designed for the corner of the site, giving the appearance of a large Georgian house. This was linked to the adjacent block with a 2½-storey bridge unit, which maximised floor area and provided access to five townhouses within the courtyard, as well as parking for the development.
